Bobbie N.A QWLC weight loss
"First giving honor to God who's the head of my life. My name is Bobbie Neal and I live in Rex, GA. I joined the QWLC in McDonough, GA on April 6, 2017. When I joined I had given it much consideration after talking with the counselors. It took a couple of days before I got back to them after the consultation I had that Monday. On that Thursday afternoon I walked into the QWLC and told the counselor that I was ready to lose weight. I signed up and was told what the steps were from here on until I reached my weight loss goal. I remember it like it was yesterday that I started my initial plan that Friday and by Saturday afternoon my body was craving all the bad foods I have eaten all my life. However, I did not give in to my cravings. I knew I just needed to tough it out. Each day got easier and easier.
On that following Tuesday when I came back into the QWLC I got on the scale and if my memory serves me right I think I had lost about 4 pounds. I just assumed it was water weight and there was no way this plan is working this quick, but I was very happy about it. The hard part was adjusting as my body started screaming for the foods it had come accustom to, but once again I didn't give in. I was going to QWLC three times per week, being held accountable by the counselors and they got me through the initial phase. By this time I had lost around 15 pounds and was really impressed with the results. Every time I would lost more weight I would come home and tell my husband. That was the turning point for me. I made up my mind….I was ready to face this weight loss head on and do whatever it took to accomplish it.
That day was the beginning of my new life. I was on my way to becoming the person I am today. The first thing I decided to do was to stop eating out and cook my own food. I went out and bought all the things on my comprehensive food list that I was going to eat. The struggle was still challenging, but the counselors at QWLC talked me through the hard times. I was losing at least 20 lbs per month! Each pound I lost made me more determined to conquer this weight loss. I decided I was going to become a living testimonial because I knew, and so does anyone that ever struggled to lose weight, that it is not easy.
Over Mother's Day I got together with my family and had a cook out. There were all sorts of foods that were not necessarily on my plan. I cheated a little bit. When I went in to the clinic on Monday, my weight was up slightly. They reminded me of the importance of staying on the plan made for me if I wanted to reach my goal quick. So that day I made up my mind not to cheat on the plan anymore. After that the worst I would do would actually be not eating enough. I just wasn't hungry, but the counselors got me back on track again and reminded me that I need to eat all the foods needed to lose weight quick.
Some time went by and I was feeling like a rock star! I was losing so much weight! Every 20 pound mark I would hit a plateau. The counselors showed me how to work through them and get me back to losing weight again. When I lost my first 50 lbs all my clothes were too big. As months went on I kept losing weight and I had my mind set on getting my name on the clinic's biggest weight loss board every week.
Throughout this weight loss journey my husband has been my biggest supporter. He would remind me on the tough days that I was doing great and I had lost more weight in a few months than most are able to lose in a few years. He, along with the QWLC counselors, were very supportive.
As of 11/2/17 I have reached my 100 lb weight loss goal! As I look back at some of my pictures before I lost any weight I could not believe how big I really was. This has been one of my greatest accomplishments. I am no longer considered a diabetic and am no longer on any blood pressure medications…YAY! I have come such a long way and am so proud of myself.
I never would have thought in a million years that I would lose 100 lbs in 26 weeks. Yay for me! I am often asked if I am on a diet and I simply tell them "No. It's a lifestyle change." If there's anything I miss and crave is a piece of cornbread…haha! Last but not least, if I haven't said it enough, I want to thank all the counselors at QWLC in McDonough. I could not have done it without you. Thanks for holding me accountable and encouraging me to do better. All the counselors have become like family to me. Thank you again!"
